AK Corporation Co., Ltd, headquartered in Se-jong City, South Korea, was established in 2003, and is operating three manufacturing factories - one cast house and two extrusion factories - and has four domestic branches/warehouses in Seoul, Bu-san, Se-jong and Hwa-sung City. Since its foundation year, AK Corporation is pursuing a global innovation with multi-material solutions that has qualified performance and highest customer satisfaction. AK Corporation is manufacturing high purity aluminum products with state-of-the-art-equipment and advanced technology. In 2014, AK Corporation was selected as a Korea Industry Partner of a Global Hawk Offset Project 12 - Aerospace-grade cast house production technology and jumbo billet/slab casting capability offset project - and could establish a cast house and received a technology from the U.S.A. By acquiring a technology from this project, AK is now able to manufacture the products - 1xxx ~ 7xxx alloys (e.g. AA1060, AA2014, AA2024, AA2219, AA2618, AA3003, AA4007, AA5083, AA5052, AA6061, AA6063, AA6082, AA7075, AA7050, AA7001, AA7021 etc.) for 5”, 6”, 7”, 8”, 10”, 13”, 15”, 26”, 32” and 41.7” billets and 520mm x 1,620 and 700mm x 2,400mm slabs for automotive, industrial, aerospace and defense applications. In AK's cast house, there are two Melting Furnaces (30Ton and 40Ton), a Cast Line by using a Liquid Aluminum Refining System with three graphite rotors that removes physical, chemical, metallurgical inclusions/impurities to produce aerospace grade billets and slabs, two 50Ton Homogenizing Furnaces, five Band saws for billets and slabs, Lathes, a Milling Machine, a Sanding Machine, a Leveler, a Stress Relieving System, a 5Ton Vertical Solution Heat treatment Furnace and also has different types of testers. The annual production capacity of this cast house is 50,000Ton.
AK owns five extruders - 5" 2200Ton (Direct Type), 13" 4300Ton (Direct Type), 8" 2600Ton (Direct Type), 8" 2600Ton (Double Action Type) and 7" 2300Ton (Direct Type) - in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd factories, and can manufacture 1xxx ~ 7xxx extruded products for round bars, square bars, flat bars, hexa bars, tubes and profiles as per customers' request such as Alscan and PoDFA to control and inspect the inclusions and hydrogen gas. In AK's extrusion facilities, there are two solution heat treatment furnaces, four aging furnaces and six stretchers to meet customers' needs and requests. The annual production capacity of a extrusion facilities is 25,000Ton.
AK acquired the certificates of ISO9001, ISO14001, AS9100, IATF16949, NADCAP-UT and completed the QPL Registration for Aluminum Extrusions of Aerospace Grade by Partner Approval of Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd.
With the computerized system of the facility, the numbered data are as follow: average grain size 20 ~ 45(µm), Hydrogen below 0.11cc/100gr Al, Alkali Salt below 1ppm and has a capability to satisfy the Class A, AA and AAA of Ultrasonic Quality.
